Vintage U.S. Navy Aviation Service Green (ASG) Officer Uniform Set consisting of a matching jacket and trousers. This exceptional named grouping was privately tailored by Novakoff Bros. Uniforms of Boston, a respected military outfitter known for producing high-quality officer uniforms. The set is named to P. F. Duffy and represents a scarce example of early Cold War/Korean War era Naval Aviation history.
Constructed from the distinctive forest green wool elastique fabric associated with Navy Aviation Service Green uniforms, this set features original oxidized Navy officer buttons with eagle and fouled anchor design, Lieutenant (O-3) rank insignia, and line officer stars. Aviation Service Green uniforms were reserved primarily for Naval Aviators, Aviation Observers, and other qualified aviation personnel, making them significantly less common than standard Navy blue uniforms.
Research indicates a likely production period of approximately 1949-1953 based on the ACWA union label style, period Talon zipper hardware, construction methods, and uniform specifications. The jacket retains premium tailoring features including custom lining, underarm protectors, and quality officer-grade construction characteristic of private-purchase uniforms.
